On January 4, 2012, an image appeared on 4chan. Its visible message invited a small number of curious minds to locate something hidden. The first clue was not the image alone, but the possibility that an ordinary file could contain another layer. A puzzle had become a method of looking.

What followed linked digital ciphers, literary references, numbers and locations. The authors remained anonymous. Their invitation became an internet legend.
